Sasa's Sketchbook

Came back from Philippines. One morning woke up really early and sketched these fishing boats. Otherwise drew very little, was too busy swimming & snorkeling, reading nolvels, eating seafood and drinking Tanduay (the local rum).

Mongolian kitchen is influenced by Russian and Chinese cuisines. A good example of this is khuushuur, which seems like a hybrid of Chinese fried dumplings and Russian salty pies. They are big fatty deep-fried pastries filled with cooked meet, yam!

Mongolians are big beer drinkers and have huge number of different beer brands (Chinggis Khan, Altan Gobi, Nuuslel, Sengur, Borgio, Mongol, Fusion,. .. ). I tried to test them all but didn't succeed.

Returned from my Mongolia trip. Sketched quite a lot during the first couple days when I was alone. Ulaanbaatar was full of statues and brightly colored Sovjet-style buildings, here are some sketches of them.

Came back from Thailand on Tuesday. Art supplies there were even cheaper than in China. I bought a lovely Sakura Koi travel watercolor set. Tested it by drawing/painting the small riverside shrine below.

This week business trip in Hongkong. Nothing exciting as usual. Half of the time in the office, the other half having phone conference in the hotel room. (But at least I managed to buy some new lingerie.)

Just returned from 2-week trip in Singapore. I drew a lot there but gonna 'publish' only these two hotel room sketches. (I really enjoyed living in that small space where everything was within reach, no need to wander from room to room...)

Vietnamese coffee is really good. I bought these 'filter' things as souvenir but haven't tried them yet.

Just came back from a 10-day trip to Cambodia and Vietnam. I managed to fill in a whole sketch book there. Here are a couple of examples (drawing pen and water color pencil; btw, the weather was so hot and humid that water color pencils practically melted...).

I may publish some other Cambodia/Vietnam sketches later (though most of them are so full of my notes that I don't really feel like it).
